Pynchon Party

It’s a midnight book release party for grownups.  Atlantans: Tonight A Cappella Books in Little Five Points is partying all night long to celebrate the new Thomas Pynchon novel, Inherent Vice.  Music will be provided by local band Schwarzkommando, who take their lyrics from Pynchon novels.  All are encourage to come dressed as their favorite Pynchon character.  Party starts at 9; books are on sale at midnight.  It’s not goofing off on a school night – it’s high concept cerebral fun.

Monday Read

Ease into your monday by sipping on that venti coffee and reading Malcolm Gladwell’s latest piece in The New Yorker.  Gladwell examines Harper Lee’s Atticus Finch, the real-life Alabama Governor Big Jim Folsom (role model for Finch and possibly O Brother’s Pappy O’Daniel), and old-style Southern liberalism.  It’s worth your time.
