Oprah had the book world a twitter all day long with two scoops of booky goodness. Cormac MCCarthy was on her show (his first television appearance – ever) this afternoon talking about his book, The Road (reviewed by BGB here). It awaits on my TiVo. More on that later…
Meanhwile, word has been leaking out all day long that the next Oprah-sanctioned book will be the Pulitzer-winning Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides (reviewed by BGB here). Fantastic book. First The Road, then Middlesex – is Oprah trying to blow the collective minds of the US populace single handedly? Hats off.

LOVED Middlesex. Ate that book up with a giant spoon in one sitting (up at the cottage, if you must know). I’ve got the Cormac McCarthy interview at home on my Faux-Vo and I can’t wait. Seriously. I’m actually considering leaving work early. Sigh.

I loved Middlesex. I gave that book as gifts one year, and a lot of people “just couldn’t get into it.” Hopefully, the O-touch will get those folks to try harder.

I loved Middlesex as well. I was initially reluctant to read it, thinking that the subject matter just wasn’t my thing. Wrong. I’m seriously considering re-reading it.

Wow coincidence. I’m about 60 pages off the end of this book which is sitting just by my right hand as I type this. Have loved it all the way through for so many reasons. Watch the Arukiyomi space… the review is pending people…

Don’t watch Oprah but often find her book recommendations good (with a few glaring mistakes – or, a different opinion than mine).

Count me as a Middlesex lover, too! That book was an amazing read – couldn’t put it down.
