Rich: I kept waiting and waiting outside of your window for you to finish so I could finally post this review. Glad you liked it.

Ragz: I'm looking forward to reading your review. (and always taunting us with your book launch party stories...) :)

Such a thoughtful review -- and I have but one thing to add. When Hall was in Canada launching the book, he said that was his entire intention, to set out to write a book with a little something in it for everyone. At once you'd be afraid that he would end up in a 'jack of all trades, master of none' kind of narrative situation, but I think he pulls all of it off with aplomb.

Great review! And perfect timing on my part. I just finished reading it last night at midnight. I know it was a good hour or so before I fell asleep because there's so much to go back over once you've come to the story's end. I'm going to be thinking about this one for a while. Another form of highest praise? I know right now that I'll read it again.

Ha! That's the thing that truly concerns me about this book critic down-sizing trend. That review would get syndicated across the country and would get run in dozens (more?) of papers across the country. And it sucks.

Great review, DJ. I, too, loved reading this book, enjoyed having someone to compare notes along the way, and did lots of thinking at the end. It's pretty rare that I am as surprised as I was by the way this books ends, especially after so much shared speculation about what would/could happen. Steven Hall does a remarkable job convincing the reader of what is conceptually possible(if that even makes sense), so much so that one's thinking parameters change and change again throughout the book, only to be shifted back to reality at the end. Or are they?
