1984
I haven’t read 1984 since high school, but I am considering it based upon this educational outreach program. I saw this while driving through the Krog Street “danger tunnel” in Cabbage Town – always a good place to spot the latest from the graffitisphere. Please note that in addition to handing out reading tips, Lady Liberty is also giving you the finger.

Isn’t it possible that she’s just giving the finger to “your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free”?

Could be. There’s a Simpsons episode, I forget the particulars, but Springfield is rounding up all of the immigrants for deportation. Chief Wiggum is directing the round-up and says, “OK, we’ll put the tired over here, the poor over there, and the huddled masses yearning to breathe free over there.”

As is so often the case, the Simpsons show us the way.

Maybe, but not this season — yeesh. You know when you’re hitting the “info” button on your remote to see how much time is left, it may not be the inspired comedy of yore.

True, flava, true. We stopped buying the DVDs after Season 7 and kind of regretted going that far. When George H. W. Bush moved across the street and they did a parody of Dennis the Menace, I lost hope forever.
And, by the way, I also read 1984 in high school and don’t have to read it again. It changed me as a human being. Completely brilliant.
