Imaginary Journalism

As a follow-up to DJ Cayenne’s post on new non-fiction, this stunning review in New York magazine of What is the What, the new book by Dave Eggers, deems the book “imaginary journalism.”  Even though it is billed as a novel, Eggers spent years interviewing the Sudanese refugee that the story is based on.

  Imaginary Journalism, eh? I’m just glad that someone read that post. Anyway, I am going to assume that the review is accurate, because I love me some Dave Eggers. I’m going to get it from the McSweeney’s site though. The last Eggers book I ordered from his publishing arm arrived signed. Sweet.
