Hannah's a film teacher, not a drama teacher. And aren't you sick of the unreliable narrator? I read something (I think by James Wood) about how the "unreliable narrator" is always reliably unreliable--i.e., in the end that conceit doesn't make you rethink a novel in any significant way. I'd rather read a book with a reliable narrator or someone who lies so brilliantly that either I believe the lie or it doesn't matter whether it's true or not (it's just riveting.)

I just skimmed your review since I just picked up the book. I'll start reading it this weekend, then come back to argue or agree.
