Tonight is the season premiere of the Gilmore Girls on the new CW network (Country & Western?). I love the show, but I keep getting subtle clues that maybe I’m not in the target audience. For starters, the network runs non-stop feminine hygiene product and teen acne acne lotion commercials during each episode. They haven’t run me off yet though. Here’s my tip: If you really want to keep a late 30’s guy from watching the show, quit making endless references to literature and indie rock bands that 18 year old girls have no chance of keeping up with. Seriously. Also: keep running these ads on the side of city buses. This just might do it.

I, too, have planned my evening around the “Gilmore Girls” premiere. I was surprised that they went for this girlie campaign this year — any show featuring Grant Lee Phillips as the town troubador, and having Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, and Joe Pernice play on the season finale is more than girlie.
And I’m looking for a Stars Hollow to move to, by the way.

Hmmm. We got two book references - Cormac McCarthy and In Cold Blood - no music references. On the plus side - there was a tool comercial.
I’m not sure that I’m ready for the civic engagement required to live in Star’s Hollow. Does Luke’s have wi-fi?

Probably not; he doesn’t allow cell phones in the now-wall-less diner. Maybe you can open the Baby Got Books store, drive that other one out of business.
